For Law Students
The Australian Law Review runs annual competitions open to all enrolled Australian law students. Prize-winning and commended submissions are published in the journal alongside peer-reviewed scholarship.
Open Now
Open to all enrolled Australian law students. Essays must address a question of federal or state law and be between 5,000–8,000 words. Submissions are blind-reviewed by the editorial board.
Students are invited to submit a case note on a significant constitutional law decision handed down in the 2025–26 term. Case notes should be 2,000–3,500 words.
A special student edition focusing on emerging questions in technology, privacy, and AI regulation under Australian law. Full details and submission guidelines will be published on 1 October 2026.
